The platform
Three engines. One platform.

Nanomaterials
- Graphene and nanomaterials
- Proprietary formulations
- Enhanced material performance
The material itself is changed at the atomic layer, so the bulk behaves differently.

Artificial intelligence
- Predictive material models
- Real-time defect detection
- AI-driven process optimisation
Formulation, process control and inspection are learned, not guessed, so every batch is better than the last.

Robotics
- High-precision automated manufacturing
- Scalable to licensee facilities
- Industrial validation and deployment
A material proven in development can be made repeatably at volume, in Manchester or in a licensee's facility.
How it works
Materials in. Performance out.
Existing materials enter. Better-performing materials and products leave. The platform in between is the same every time.
Raw and circular inputs
- Critical minerals
- Dune sand and silica
- Polymers and hydrocarbons
- Waste tyres and rubber
- Recycled plastics
- Biochar and sulphur
- Carbon fibre precursors

GIM Advanced Materials Platform
One platform. More possibilities.
- Broader markets
- Greater efficiency
- Stronger IP position
- Higher barriers to entry
- Bigger global impact
How it started
Two problems. One platform.
GIM began by solving two very different materials problems.

Waste tyres
How do you take a difficult waste stream and transform it into useful, high-performance materials, rather than simply disposing of it?
From waste to opportunity.
The answer became graphene-enhanced rubber mats made from waste tyres, now produced by Space Blue (opens in a new tab).

Space
How do you create materials that are lighter, stronger and more functional, when conventional materials are reaching their performance limits?
From extreme demands to real-world impact.
The answer became a graphene-enhanced space habitat (opens in a new tab), designed with architects Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and the University of Manchester, led by Vivek Koncherry. The pressurised vessels developed for it are the same winding technology behind GIM Hydrogen Storage today.
Solving those two problems created something much bigger: a platform for making existing materials perform better.
Commercial routes
Products. Machines. IP.
A reference manufacturing capability in Manchester. Global markets. Multiple commercial routes.
The Graphene Age is here. GIM's Advanced Materials Platform is leading it, with a proven track record.
