Our story

Born in the city that made graphene.

The city

2004Where graphene began.

Graphene was first isolated in Manchester in 2004. The discovery won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2010. Two decades on, the city holds the strongest graphene ecosystem in the world: the university, the engineering centres, the supply chain and the people who know how to make it work.

The region

Where the platform was built.

GIM's platform was created in the same city, downstream of the ecosystem: Manchester makes the graphene, GIM makes it perform. Nanomaterials, AI and robotics, combined to make existing materials perform better. It runs at scale, it is validated with customers, and it ships in large volume.
